چکیده

The performance of cellular DS-CDMA systems using long and short spreading sequences is compared in terms of the distribution of the bit error probability, both with and without forward error correction. For the short code case, both conventional and MMSE detectors are considered. The MMSE receiver clearly outperforms both of the conventional receivers. Furthermore, for the conventional receiver, the short code system has a higher performance variability among the user population than the corresponding long code system, which requires attention when designing a short code system. Code hopping as a technique to mitigate this is investigated.

Throughput Improvement of STS-Based MC DS-CDMA System with Variable Spreading Factor

The throughput enhancement of Space-Time Spreading (STS)-based Multicarrier Direct Sequence Code Division Multiple Access (MC DS-CDMA) system is investigated in this paper. Variable Spreading Factor (VSF) is utilized to improve the data throughput of the system. In this contribution, an analytical approach is proposed to compute a new expression for the Bit Error Rate (BER) performance of t...

Nonlinear Multiuser Receiver for Optimized Chaos-Based DS-CDMA Systems

Chaos based communications have drawn increasing attention over the past years. Chaotic signals are derived from non-linear dynamic systems. They are aperiodic, broadband and deterministic signals that appear random in the time domain. Because of these properties, chaotic signals have been proposed to generate spreading sequences for wide-band secure communication recently. Like conventional DS...

Evaluating the performance of turbo codes and turbo-coded modulation in a DS-CDMA environment

Recently, turbo codes have received great attention due to their outstanding performance. Unfortunately, a high performance is associated with large transmission delays prohibiting an application for speech transmission. Hence, the aim of this paper is the comparison of turbo codes employing short interleavers with convolutional codes in terms of bit error rate performance and computational eff...

On Blind Channel Identification for Ds/cdma Communications

Blind channel identiication techniques based on second order statistics are investigated for multiuser systems employing Direct-Sequence/Code-Division Multiple-Access (DS/CDMA). The methods exploit knowledge of the spreading code of the user of interest via matched ltering, as well as properties of spreading codes. Two schemes are presented: one for deterministic short sequence DS/CDMA and a me...
